Let in the Light
I graduated from university in April 2010, and chose to take a year off from furthering my education to determine which direction I wanted to take next. Since finishing school, I have planted trees in British Columbia, backpacked in Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand, and worked part time at a yoga studio and gym. Little did I know that this "year off from furthering my education" could not be any further from exactly that. Although I have had no formal schooling over the past year, learning has been an integral part of my life experience the past 10 months. But this learning has been of a different kind; I have learned through a journey of self-discovery. Now I have decided that instead of going back to school in the fall, I will take another year off to further peruse the most important kind of education: a learning of the self.

"Letting in the light" means living with awareness of how I spend my life energy, assessing if I am living in a way that is in line with my authentic self, and "lightening" my life to make room for what matters. It’s about knowing what I value most, and living in line with those values. I am lightening my possession, how I spend my time, and my impact on the environment, all to leave space for what is most important to me.

Life is a gift. Life is an adventure. Life is fleeting. Right now, this very instant, is the only time that any of us has to live the life we want. Are we living in line with what we value most? Are we blissful? The world has so much to offer, and NOW is the time to make the most of it and live in happiness.

Let in the Light.
